Good morning, Marketers, Google isn’t the only organization saying, “write great content.”
Search Engine Land takes quality seriously. We even have a secret shorthand term for quality that we use internally. But we’re not alone in that pursuit. Here are a few tips for writing quality content that could help you in your projects:
- Know the “why we care” before you start writing.
- Get to the point quickly.
- Make the context count. Weak examples offer little support.
- Know your subject, and question what you think you know already.
- Write plainly. Call things what they are.
- Use direct quotes only when they are worth quoting.
- If you can give your reader back some time, do it.
A few of us are obsessed with “Several short sentences about writing,” if you’re looking for a fantastic guide on clear communication. And, if we’re not hitting the mark for you, send me a note at [email protected]. Honest feedback makes us better.
